What I’m into this week: Ice Spheres

Ice cube balls

What it is:

It’s an ice cube. Only a large sphere.

Why I like it:

Because, science. Normal ice cubes, crushed ice, etc, have a lot of surface area. Surface area promotes melting. Melted ice dilutes the beverage you’re drinking, and if that beverage is say, a fine whiskey, apple bourbon cocktail, etc, you don’t want dilution. Plus, it looks much more sophisticated, don’t you think?

What You can do with it:

Use it in place of normal ice in cocktails or other strong flavored drinks.

Where You can find it:

I really prefer these spheres below, as they are economical, easy to fill, and even easier to extract.
